The Art of Transformation: A Look Inside My Creative Process

The creation of this piece, like all my work, is a unique journey that transforms a moment from the real world into a bold, stylized work of art. It’s a deliberate fusion of modern inspiration and a hands-on, multi-layered approach.

The process begins not with a sketch from imagination, but with a photograph. I captured this image of the classic car, drawn to its iconic lines and the way the light played on its chrome. This photograph serves as my blueprint, allowing me to preserve the authentic details and powerful presence of the subject.

Next, I transfer this initial image onto the canvas. This is a crucial step, as it’s the moment I move from a realistic snapshot to a blank slate for artistic interpretation. With a pencil, I meticulously sketch out the core composition, focusing on the strong, foundational shapes.

The most transformative step comes with the black marker. This is where I truly begin to define the piece’s distinctive character. I don’t use a brush for the outlines; instead, I go over the pencil lines with a permanent marker, creating the sharp, unyielding, and confident black borders that give the piece its graphic punch. This bold stroke is a commitment—it’s where the piece breaks free from realism and embraces the raw, stylized aesthetic inspired by classic Pop Art and comic book illustrations.

Finally, the canvas is brought to life with vibrant acrylic paints. Each section is carefully filled in, but with a purpose: I use no blending or gradients. Instead, I apply a single, flat color to each outlined area. This technique, while seemingly simple, requires patience and precision. The result is a striking, high-contrast composition that removes the shadows of reality and instead presents a subject full of pure energy and iconic color.

By combining the precision of a photograph, the deliberate mark of the marker, and the clean, bold fields of acrylic color, I create a piece that is both a tribute to the classic car and a modern, graphic statement. You aren’t just acquiring a painting; you’re bringing home a piece of my unique process, where every line and color is a deliberate choice to celebrate the subject in a way you’ve never seen before.
